It is customary for people to meet the perfect mate, fall in love and marry of their own free will. But for others this practice is not acceptable. Acceptable norm would be for the families to meet and arrange the marriage of the two individuals.
So we ask the question. Why is it done?
There are two possible reasons; it can be done for economic social reasons.
The question of love is not a priority, the only concern is that the marriage is agreed upon and that it is stable and long lasting.
We all dream of falling head over heel in love and choose your mate first but persons who are forced into marriage can fall in love later one, right? Yes it is possible but who would take the chance?
How does this benifit an individual?
